Spanish MEP Magdalena Álvarez left the Group of the Socialists and Democrats (S&D) at the European Parliament after being appointed vice-president of the European Investment Bank (EIB) by the Bank’s Board of Governors.

 

Ms Álvarez took up her new duties on 16 July and will be replaced by Sergio Gutiérrez.

 

Mr Gutiérrez (Escalona, Spain, 1982) is a member of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party PSOE and until now he was a member of the city hall assembly of his hometown, Escalona.
