This Sunday Romania will hold a national referendum that will determine whether or not Traian Băsescu will return to his former role as President of Romania following an impeachment procedure launched by the Romanian parliament.

 

 

"Romania faces an important decision. The citizens of the country must decide whether elections for a new Romanian president should be called or whether Traian Băsescu should return to his post. A clear majority decision from the Romanian voters will help end the present political quarrels and disputes.

 

"Democracy lives and dies with the participation of the people and it is therefore crucial that Romanian citizens participate in Sunday's referendum and make their choice."

 

 

"I am very glad that the Romanian parliament has changed their previous decision and reintroduced the quorum that the Constitutional Court decided for the referendum's outcome to be valid. Now it is up to the citizens of Romania to give a clear answer on the political question of their future president.
