S&Ds welcome 'a good compromise' on new EU preferential trade system. S&D spokesperson on international trade, German Euro MP Bernd Lange, said: 'The World Trade Organisation has been pushing the EU to review its system of preferences in trade to developing countries. Under current international competition rules the EU cannot favour some states over others, and particularly those who have thrived and are now middle or high income, such as Saudi Arabia or South Korea'
