Subcontracting: clamping down on rogue employers
On the initiative of the S&D Group, the European Parliament adopted in 2009 a resolution calling on the Commission to establish clear cut rules on liability of employers in subcontracting chains at European level. These rules are essential for workers because they will guarantee the respect of their social and employment rights across Europe even when the work is carried out in subcontracting chains. They would create fair conditions for workers and companies alike in the Internal Market.
