Safeguarding solidarity in our pension systems
In 2011 the European Commission will produce proposals to encourage Member States to coordinate their pensions policies and to carry out major reforms in areas which have a direct impact on the funding of pensions. This happens at a time when pensions systems in Member States are under increasing strain - from an ageing population, from a squeeze on public spending and from efforts by employers to reduce their pensions liabilities.
