With media freedom and independence under threat in a number of EU countries – above all in Hungary and Italy – the S&D Group today backed a European Parliament report urging EU countries to do more to prevent intimidation of the media and to improve their national laws on pluralism and conflicts of interest.

S&D Euro MPs backed new rules last night to rescue failing banks in the future during a vote that took place in the European Parliament's economic and monetary committee in Strasbourg.
