After the Greek Parliament’s vote on the bailout programme, the leader of the Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament, Gianni Pittella, urges the Eurozone ministers to approve the fundamental financial rescue plan for Greece.

Gianni Pittella said:

"When the Eurozone ministers start discussing in a few hours, they should not open new debates or come up with new impractical conditions. All these were already discussed last July and the Greek Parliament accepted it in a very responsible and painful vote.

"Despite the very dramatic economic and social situation, the Greek Parliament, the government and the Greek people have demonstrated their will to get back on the track of ambitious reforms. Now it is time for the Eurozone ministers to keep their word and to approve the 85-billion euro bailout.

"Mutual trust and solidarity between Europeans must be fully enforced so that Europe can finally face the common challenges as one."
