Upcoming activities

It will be a busy week in the Parliament, with various important committee votes and events taking place. We will be also preparing the upcoming plenary session in Strasbourg. Stay tuned!

Our Group will dedicate the week to the preparation of the Plenary session, where the main priorities include the EU budget post-2020, corporate taxation, preparation of the Spring Summit and a debate with Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa.

The Parliament’s budget committee will vote on Thursday on Daniele Viotti’s report that sets the Parliament’s guidelines for the EU 2019 budget. There will be a joint meeting of the Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs committee and the Foreign Affairs Committee to look at the progress made by the UN Refugee Agency UNHCR in Libya on Monday 5 March.

On Tuesday, March 6, our Group is launching an original EU platform for Cities against Sexist Advertisement. Acting President Udo Bullmann and Iratxe García Pérez S&D co-ordinator for Women’s Rights and Gender Equality will be chairing the event which will also feature specialists, among which Marie-Noëlle Bas, Chiennes de Garde (France), Donatella Martini, DonneinQuota (Italy), Marcel Wicker, Pinkstinks (Germany), city representatives from Paris and Segovia, Jennette Arnold (London), Sandra Trawny (Frankfurt), Jean Stretton (Manchester), and Guillermo Martínez Suárez, European Committee of the Regions and representatives of PES Women.

On Thursday, March 8, we are undertaking a major reflection on Europe's development, through a new initiative, Progressive Society, promoting a progressive society based on solidarity, an alternative model of development, and fair and sustainable wellbeing for all. 

This year we’re organising our fourth edition of the School of Democracy, from 6 - 8 June, in Reggio Emilia, Italy. Over the course of three days, 100 young people from both inside and outside the EU will discuss the major issues facing Europe and the world. Participants will have the chance to debate with experts from the political, economic and academic worlds.

To be eligible to apply you have to be between 18 and 25 and be passionate about progressive politics. Travel, hotel and meal expenses will be paid by us.
