The S&D Group is a unique community of extraordinary people - a diverse and united group of engaged women and men from different generations and national backgrounds. I firmly believe that together we can bring about the fundamental change that our societies so desperately need. This requires a renewed social democracy, committed to the sustainable development of our societies. I am convinced that our group can provide the decisive impulses for this.

Busy days ahead in the Parliament, with various important committee votes taking place. Stay tuned!
Next week our MEPs will be looking into different topics. On Monday, our S&D MEPs in the Committee of Foreign Affairs and the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs will have a joint debate on migration.
Tuesday is the time for our members to vote on carcinogens in protection of workers. We are also eager to exchange with Commissioner Pierre Moscovici on new initiatives regarding tax policy and the reform of the Eurozone.
Also, next week a delegation of our MEPs will be on a fact finding mission to Israel and Palestine. On March 24 - 28 our Group Vice-President Elena Valenciano will lead the delegation which includes Maria Arena, Eugen Freund, Linda McAvan, Norbert Neuser and Soraya Post in order to get first-hand experience about the developments on the ground, with the focus on settlement activities including in East Jerusalem and Hebron.
We are also preparing our next #EuropeTogether debate on Managing Migration and Supporting Refugees in a Globalised World, which will be held in Hamburg, on April 12. Migration is no longer a phenomenon that affects only those displaced. It’s a global concern which we must address fast!
Assuming responsibility and acting together to improve the lives and futures of the people looking up to Europe with hope is something we must do now! And to do that, we are willing to take all the help and advice we can get. We are willing to listen. Listen to the people, listen to the specialists and listen to politicians, African leaders and NGOs.
