Social Democrats all over Europe should not deny themselves and their fundamental values by running after right wing proposals. We need a clear and coherent position on the migration crisis based on solidarity, the sharing of responsibility, integration and security. This is what European citizens expect from us and for which we will fight for them.

Events
Next week our MEPs will prepare the next plenary session in Strasbourg. This is scheduled to take place between 9 - 12.05 and the list of topics includes debates on migration and asylum, tax policy and parental leave.
Also, next week we are getting ready for this year's first edition of the European Parliament's Open Days. So, save the 8th of May in your calendars and come visit our stand in Strasbourg, where our team will be present to tell you all about our initiatives and activities.
We will also be focusing on real solutions to the refugee crisis with a conference in Brussels: The end of Dublin: towards genuine solidarity and full integration of refugees 14:30-18:00 on 04.05.2016. For those of you who cannot make it to our event, we will webstream the entire conference on our website.
Our Progressive Economy team is busy organising one of this Spring's most important events, the Progressive Economy Forum 2016 on 31 May. The theme this year is 'Investment & Innovation' and we're looking forward to welcoming Mariana Mazzucato to deliver the keynote speech.
