Department Internal and External Coordination

The Internal Coordination Unit is tasked with preparing the work of the S&D Group's governing bodies: the Bureau, the meetings of the Heads of Delegation, the Coordinators and the Group meeting itself.

The Unit is also responsible for the plenary sessions: It prepares the agendas, with a view to the priorities of the S&D Group, and ensures the smooth running of the debates and votes.

The External Coordination Unit helps prepare the Group President and the other office holders for the meetings of Parliament's governing bodies: those of the Conference of Presidents, the EP Bureau, the Quaestors and the Conference of Committee Chairs.

In addition, the Unit is in charge of maintaining the Group's working relations with the Council of European Union and the European Commission.

The current head of this department and deputy secretary general is Cristina Baptista.  Read more about her here - Curriculum Vitae
