Throughout history, people have been on the move to seek opportunities or to escape the dangers in their home country. During our lifetimes, many Europeans have been among those refugees and migrants.
In recent years, some governments have failed to treat migrants with the dignity they deserve. Some governments have forgotten that this is about real people, vulnerable people with families and children. Europe has so far failed to come up with an effective way of sharing responsibility and creating legal routes for migrants to settle in Europe.
The Socialists and Democrats have constantly pushed this issue to the top of the agenda to find lasting solutions that are built on solidarity and guarantee Europe is a safe place for vulnerable people seeking international protection. How do you think Europe could solve these long-standing challenges and bring people together on the issue?
