The S&D Group in the European Parliament will tomorrow hold events in Brussels and Strasbourg to commemorate the centenary of the death of Jean Jaurès.  Jaurès’ ideas, his actions, his brave and innovating stances and his prophetic warnings are more relevant than ever in European politics.

On Tuesday 9 September, an educational exhibition from the Jean Jaurès Foundation will be officially inaugurated and there will be a screening of a documentary film entitled 'Jaurès is alive!', produced by ARTE in collaboration with the Foundation.

This event will take place at 7.30pm in the S&D Group room in the European Parliament (JAN 4Q2) with the participation of S&D Group leader Gianni Pittella and the president of the Jean Jaurès Foundation, Henri Nallet.

After Brussels, the exhibition will transfer to Strasbourg for the plenary session. On Wednesday 17 September, S&D Euro MPs will hold a debate on the theme 'The topicality of Jaurès" during their group meeting, with the historian Jean-Noël Jeanneney.

Both events are open to the media.
