The Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament warmly welcomeCroatia's accession to the EU as the 28th member state on 1 July 2013.

The S&D Group strongly believes Croatian membership will reinforce both a European and a regional dimension. It is also a powerful incentive for other Western Balkan countries on the path to European integration to pursue the necessary political, economic and legislative reforms and strengthen peace and stability in the region.
