The S&D Group in the European Parliament strongly condemns the bombing of hospital buildings in northern Syria.

Commenting on these bombings, S&D Group leader, Gianni Pittella said:

"We strongly condemn the bombing against hospitals in Syria and urge all parties to grow up and stop killing civilians, particularly those in direct need.

"Such action against hospitals only leaves innocent people without medical services. We call once again on all those involved in the region to fully respect the agreement for a cessation of hostilities in Syria.

"We welcome the great effort made by the EU High Representative Federica Mogherini and we share her stance on the need for humanitarian access to be granted unconditionally so that aid organisations can deliver vital assistance, such as food and medicines, to people in need."

S&D MEP and vice-president for foreign affairs Victor Boştinaru said:

"We  call on all parties involved in the Syrian conflict to stick to the Munich agreement, and to make, in good faith , all necessary efforts for an immediate cessation of hostilities in Syria and to allow the full access of humanitarian aid to all besieged areas, starting with Aleppo. In this regard, we deplore and condemn the strikes that hit two MSF hospitals in Northern Syria resulting in yet more civilian victims.

"All parties have to respect their commitment and abstain from actions that could further increase the suffering of the Syrian population and could undermine the fragile negotiations process. A solution for the conflict in Syria will only be possible through a political dialogue involving all sides of the conflict.

"The results of our agreements should have urgent and immediate results on the ground and make a difference for the civilians."
