The European Union was built on the promise of ending authoritarian regimes. The Hungarian people have also been an example of the struggle for freedom, from the revolution of 1848 to the uprising against the Soviet regime in 1956. That promise remains alive today. Let us stand firm and united in the defence of our freedom, our Union, and our democracy.
