Platform workers, also known as gig workers or freelance workers, are individuals who work on digital platforms that connect them with clients. Unlike traditional employees, these workers do not have the same rights and protections. For example, they are not entitled to benefits such as sick leave and unemployment insurance, and they may not be protected by labour laws that regulate minimum wages and overtime pay. This can create a precarious situation for platform workers, who often struggle to make ends meet and are at the mercy of the platform's algorithms and policies. As more and more people turn to gig work to make a living, it is important to ensure that these workers have the same rights and protections as traditional employees.
