EN : Yesterday, 5.000 steel workers demonstrated in Brussels streets in order to be given a chance to compete on a level playing field. Concretely, the workers urge the commission to take actions against low tariffs on Chinese imports which have led to social dumping and thousands of job losses in the EU. The demonstration took place the same day of Emmanuel Macron’s visit to the European Parliament. The French minister of Economy and Industry replied to the invitation of the S&D MEP Edouard Martin to an exchange of view on the future of the European steel sector.

Les travailleurs demandent à la commission d’agir contre les tarifs bradés des importations chinoises, qui créent un dumping social et ont causé la perte de milliers d’emplois en Europe. La manifestation a pris place le même jour que la visite d’Emmanuel Macron au parlement européen. Le ministre français de l’économie et de l’industrie a répondu à l’invitation de l’eurodéputé socialiste Edouard Martin à participer à un échange de vues sur le futur de l’industrie sidérurgique.
