S&D European Youth Event 2023 - NON aux stages non-rémunérés, OUI au travail décent
The European Parliament will organise the 2023 edition of the European Youth Event (EYE) on the 9th and 10th of June in Strasbourg and it is important to reiterate our message during this important gathering of young people in Strasbourg. Therefore, the S&Ds will hold an event on 10 June, bringing together young people and our MEPs, as well our local sister parties.
Our Group initiated and strongly supported many concrete actions helping young people with a quality start of working life including the following:
- the fight for the ban on unpaid traineeships,
- the European Youth Guarantee ensuring that all young people under the age of 30 receive a good quality offer of employment, continued education, apprenticeship or traineeship within a period of four months of becoming unemployed or leaving education,
- minimum wages and minimum income,
- automatic recognition of diplomas, informal learning, traineeships and other training and work experience including across borders,
- active citizenship, introduction of ‘youth tests’ in policy making and democratic rights.
