S&D Times - This week's highlights and what's coming up.

Weekly Update - 14 to 18 March 2016

Quote of the week
“We will take time to engage with African leaders and intellectuals, discuss, question and challenge ourselves about how we can work better together and empower the current and future generations to profit from the opportunities offered by the digital revolution”
Gianni Pittella on the second edition of the Africa Week

Past activities
After a busy Plenary session in Strasbourg our team has headed straight towards a new Europe Together event, the first one after the summer break. This time we went to Valencia to discuss about the importance of EU Cohesion Funds. We were joined by our MEPs, by great speakers - members of the PES Group in the Committee of the Regions and, for the first time, by our three Together Ambassadors. See the video below for more details.

Activities (summary)

Next week it’s all about Africa - opportunities, collaboration, hopes, youth and future. We are looking forward to a week full of events, as our second Africa Week unfolds between September 25 and 28.
Not to mention we are already preparing the next Europe Together event which will take place right here, in Brussels. Follow us for more details!

Upcoming activities

The future of Europe is in our hands! We’ve all seen what populism can do.  It’s time to protect our people from crises, uncertainty and lies!

On 18-19 October we will be joined by the entire progressive family for an event that is aimed to shape the future of Europe. In those two days we plan to talk, but also to listen to what people have to say, to take into account their proposals so that together we can shape our progressive agenda for the upcoming years.
Young people are and will always be at the core of our concerns. This is why, for the second time, we will be flying in our Together Ambassadors - people selected according to strict criteria, based on their input given on our debate platform www.europe-together.eu and their engagement in promoting our shared values and beliefs.

Building the Progressive Future Together is the title of our upcoming event. Prominent speakers, including our Group President Gianni Pittella, our Vice-Presidents, Pedro Sanchez, Secretary General of the PSOE (Spain) and Paul Magnette, the Mayor of Charleroi (Belgium) will join the discussion. Everyone is welcome to register and join us in the room, but also follow us online and on Facebook.

Together in Valencia

Together is more than just a series of events. It’s our way of reaching out to people, of hearing their concerns and of acting accordingly. It’s our way of changing society so that it can turn out to be a home for every one of us, regardless of our origins, beliefs or religion.
We need to show people that - together - the progressive forces in Europe have achieved a lot and that there is still room for much more to be done.
This October we’re gathering all our progressive partners for a Convention that will shape the future of Europe. Come and shape it with us! Everyone is invited to register here.
